The Cosmic Presence, Part 1, written lore: Rogue Eclipse Attacks Picturesque

πŸŒŸ The Comic Presence, Part 1, written lore:

Rogue Eclipse Attacks Picturesque

Picturesque hops down from a city rooftop, the night sky glittering above her, she lands softly on the concrete path thanks to the winged technological boots on her legs. She looks up, the looming sky stares back at her. She sighs and turns back to the earthly scene of towering buildings in front of her, taking a step forward before halting suddenly: she had landed in an empty alleyway, and the lamppost in the distance was flickering ominously. Picturesque squints, then her eyes widen, she takes a step back cautiously as she notices a figure standing in the flickering light like something from a horror movie. “What is going on..?” She whispers to herself. Mental technological screens begin appearing in front of her like pop-up ads as Connection activates, she begins recalling any Vigilante she can think of whose abilities are light or shadow based and who would potentially revel in standing ominously in lamplight (which, frankly, is a lot). By this point she’s taken four steps back- keeping her eyes on the figure while her mental gears turn- when the figure finally reaches a hand to their face, and Picturesque could’ve sworn they smirked right before pulling their hood across their face. The motion of the hooded cloak folding over the figure’s body to form a shadowed silhouette triggers what looked to Picturesque like a gust of wind snuffing out any nearby light, she braced for impact but no wind hit her body, she was simply left in the dark, the stars’ light taunting her from above. Picturesque’s heart begins pounding in her body as she failed to keep her composure in the darkness, she narrowed down her list of potential Vigilante’s significantly, and some of the possibilities were terrifying. She *really* hoped it wasn’t who she thought it was: a particularly dangerous shadow *and* light based Vigilante who has been caught on camera many times, one of which being pretty recent in her area… She shuddered just thinking about it, things never ended well in the videos. Picturesque whipped her body around defensively, deciding it was about time she pulled out her large camera case- which she uses as a shield in situations of conflict. The surrounding area was eerily quiet: even more proof to the guess she was desperately hoping would be wrong, of course they would stand in a lamppost ominously, they enjoy nothing more than letting their victims’ fear cultivate for a good amount of time in a game of cat and mouse before tearing their body to shreds or burning them to cinders- whichever was best for the situation. Picturesque’s stomach tied itself in knots as she tried to decide what the best course of action would be for the horrors that would come next. She realized she needed to put a stop to the Vigilante’s shadow hunt before she possibly threw up from all the “what if”s running through her mind. She looked at one of the mental screens in front of her, one Vigilante stood out from the rest of the options, it was enough to solidify her worries. ‘Enough of this game!’ She thought to herself before yelling out, trying to keep her voice from trembling “Oh get on with it already! I know who you are!” She swallowed harshly and braced herself. “Rogue Eclipse!”

Picturesque felt the words leave her throat, the silence that followed haunting her as she couldn’t tell if the Vigilante was stunned, smirking, or even no longer around. Then slow clapping echoed through the darkness, followed by a cackle. She could even hear the smirk in his voice as the Vigilante spoke “Spot on! Tell me, what gave it away? Was it the lamplight or the darkness?” Finally Picturesque felt wind rush by her out of the darkness “No really, I’m curious!” Rogue Eclipse laughed in her face as his shadowed claw reached out, latching onto her camera case and prying it out of her hands with one slash. Picturesque gasped as the force pushed her backwards, and within that same second screamed in pain as she was clawed in the side, Rogue Eclipse’s second claw dripping with dark marbled blood the color of the cosmos as proof of its violent deed. Picturesque was sent flying from the sheer power of her opponent, the force of her landing bending a lamp post. She groaned, her vibrant pink hair flopping over her body and pouring over her face. She gritted her teeth as pain shot up her side, but a cry still slipped out of her mouth, she’s dealt with the occasional Vigilante or common crook, but none were as deadly or violent as a Rogue. ‘Why is he attacking me? I’m just a small time Loner, surely he has other targets!?’ She thought, contemplating what horrible luck she must have while attempting to pick herself up as Rogue Eclipse studied his claw that was dripping with her Vigilante Blood, like a lion attempting to entertain itself with a mouse caught in its claws. Rogue Eclipse clicked his tongue as Picturesque wobbled to her feet, the wings on her mechanical heels flickering as if they wanted to fly away. “Preparing that party trick of yours? You do know you can’t blind the blinded, right?” He frowned as if he couldn’t even bring himself to be amused at that notion. She gripped her bleeding side, her hair flopping over her back as she staggered, he was right, Rogue Eclipse was fully immune to her Flash Bomb, but that wasn’t her only reason to use it. She knew she couldn’t beat him or run from him, and the only reason she was still alive was because Rogue Eclipse enjoys watching his victim’s struggle and weep and beg under his burning claws. She needed to act, and she needed to act now before he became bored of his hunt. Unfortunately, Rogue Eclipse noticed her slightly lifting up her foot “Aw, it’s almost cute how you still want to try” Picturesque froze “oh no, don’t stop on my account, it’s much more fun when weaklings like you try” Rogue Eclipse smirked. Picturesque’s expression hardened, her side still oozing the color of the night sky through her hand, in a sudden burst of confidence, or perhaps pitiful hope, she tapped the tip of her technological leg onto the floor, sending a winged prism out of her heel and into the air. Before it could get high up, Rogue Eclipse launched forwards, slashing the prism- however in the corner of his eye there was suddenly another winged prism, which was then kicked high above by Picturesque before black ribbon-like shadows latched onto her body from the darkness, pulling her to the ground. Picturesque let out a strained yell as her injured side was slammed into the floor, the ribbons squeezed her body and restrained her now wingless legs, meanwhile Rogue Eclipse frowned at the sky as a burst of light went off like a star shaped firework. “Now why would you do that?” He asked in a disappointed taunt, turning to the softly crying Picturesque who was once again failing to keep her composure, “now I have to end this quickly, and that’s no fun at all.” Picturesque flopped to the ground in submission to her restraints, sucking in sharp breaths through her teeth as she began to bleed out on the rough concrete, “Why are you attacking me?” She sobbed, expressing her fearful confusion in an attempt to stall. “Why…? Hm” Rogue Eclipse propped his claw on his chin to act as if he was deep in thought “do I need a reason? Perhaps I just saw a sparkly Vigilante and was in the mood to snuff out her light like the moon eclipsing the sun” He chuckled at his obvious metaphor. “Now that I’ve entertained your attempt to stall, I suppose I should wrap this up... but you know what- to entertain you further, how would you like to go?” He flexed his claws and his shadowed body flickered in response “shadows are what I usually use for civilians and those like you, you’re all so easy to kill that I hardly indulge in my favorite abilities, but because you’re a special case and your attempt to act less pitiful is amusing me I could always let you go out in a blaze of glory so long as your corpse is still recognizable” Rogue Eclipse smiled at the thought of unleashing his full power. Picturesque stared at the warmly smiling Rogue, dumbfounded. He narrowed his white eyes at her “alright times up, guess I’m choosing for you!” His warm smile upturned into a smirk just like that, and Picturesque exclaimed in terror and squeezed her eyes shut as she braced for the killing blow. But it never came. Picturesque felt a strange power shift enter the shadowed alleyway, the feeling she always assumed came from her Connection ability, and relief flooded her aching body when she realized it was a particular presence she was very familiar with. Suddenly the inky darkness felt different, as if a powerful force pulled the stars down from the cosmos and turned the haunting shadows into a reassuring night. Her last ditch effort to save herself had worked. Rogue Eclipse groaned in annoyance “You just had to be the one to show up, it couldn’t have been the birds.. or literally anyone else” his claw twitched in what appeared to be a frustrated manner as Stardust hurriedly floated into view, her galaxy-like skirt filtering out of the shadows. Rogue Eclipse had been about to claw Picturesque before stopping mid-swing as if interrupted by her presence, and now acted as if he was being weighed down by some type of magical pressure. Stardust locked eyes with Picturesque, then her eyes went to the pooling blood, and for a split second Picturesque spotted what might’ve been guilt on her face before it quickly morphed into rage aimed at the moping Rogue. “Let her go. Now.” Stardust barked, her brow furrowing in concerned anger. Rogue Eclipse sighed “Ugh, whatever, it’ll get the point across better if you’re here to witness your wrongdoing firsthand” He said, continuing his own thought rather than answering Stardust’s demand. “This isn’t a fight you can win, Eclipse, and you know that, so just-“ Stardust was cut off by Picturesque’s pained scream as Rogue Eclipse pulled the inky ribbons towards him, it took him two tries before he was able to fully grasp Picturesque’s neck in his claw, which was still loose enough for Picturesque to breathe. “Stop fighting it Star! Or keep fighting it, either way I’ll prove to you that no amount of gripping onto the Potential that I won’t kill her will stop what’s about to happen!” Rogue Eclipse yelled out confidently, Picturesque’s mind was becoming foggy but she could still glimpse the faltering in his voice as she felt a powerful force wrapping around them tighter and tighter. “I’ll say it again: let her go, or I’ll have no choice but to use my last resort” Stardust pushed, Picturesque could feel her consciousness slipping, but somehow some strength began welling up in her like a voice begging her to stay awake, and she was able to eye Stardust again who had this determined and reassuring look in her eyes. Rogue Eclipse gritted his teeth in frustration, before his grip fully loosened on Picturesque’s throat and she fell to the ground with a harsh thud, the inky ribbon-like shadows falling off her body at the impact. Despite being able to hold onto what little consciousness she still had thanks to the unnatural strength she was gifted, Picturesque was in no shape to function properly and could barely pull herself away from Rogue Eclipse, who, either due to the now overwhelming force or some other reason, seemed to be unwilling to attack Stardust. Fury poured into Rogue Eclipse’s annoyed expression, but then his frown twisted into a smirk. “Alright” he shrugged, letting out an exasperated sigh as if to show he was agreeing begrudgingly before saying “she’s all yours, but don’t tell me I didn’t warn you” then turned around as Stardust darted over to Picturesque’s side. “Might want to get her to a healer quick, she’s fading fast” Rogue Eclipse said over his shoulder, dissolving into the deep shadows of the alleyway. “Hang in there, don’t black out now!” Stardust exclaimed, sliding next to Picturesque and picking her up in a cautious but hurried manner. The last thing Picturesque saw was worry and guilt washing over Stardust’s usually cold but confident exterior, and the phrase “it’s going to be alright, I’ll make sure of it!” faded in and out of her ears before black pushed its way around her vision, and Picturesque’s body went slack in Stardust’s arms.

The Cosmic Presence, Part 1, written lore: Summary

🌟 The Comic Presence, Part 1, written lore: Summary

Alice was orphaned very little and lived in an orphanage, she is one of the few who became a Vigilante when incredibly young, at the age of nine. Alice is found by a stardust that decides she would be its vessel, connecting itself to her and forming the ability of Potential. Alice is a rare case in many ways, because not only was she very little when it happened, the stardust that connected to her *did not* draw concepts from Alice, but instead used her as a vessel for it’s own concepts, that of Potential and the cosmos. Potential is the name given to the concepts the stardust draws from and creates the Vigilante forms off of, every human has the Potential to become what the stardust wishes to grant them, and Alice has control over it. (Alice’s ability- Potential: Alice has the ability to control the outcome of battles by controlling Vigilante’s Potential, this could be making her team stronger by tapping into their potential to win, or making the enemy weaker by tapping into their potential to lose. However potential is a flexible thing, meaning it requires a naturally powerful and tactical team to make her Potential stronger, she can control potential, but she can’t change the future, meaning the potential needs to be created and shifted outwardly before it can be controlled. The more noticeably powerful aspect of this ability is that it comes directly from the concept of The Cosmic Presence, meaning Alice also naturally holds the Potential From The Cosmos, something unique to her and her alone) Because of this she quickly gains the attention of the Rogue Leader, who knew a girl was going to gain the ability to control the Potential From The Cosmos and that she was being created by a stardust to specifically aid the creation of the Rogue’s Cosmic Presence (a very powerful force who only cares about power and destruction and wants to be the only Cosmic Presence in the universe). Alice is then taken in by the Rogue Leader, who calls her “Rogue Stardust,” and pairs her with the other kid who was recently brought to the Faction, Ezra, also known as Rogue Eclipse. Alice and Ezra, due to being raised together, develops a sibling bond, however their relationship becomes rocky the older and more independent Alice gets due to the fact that Ezra chose this lifestyle while Alice did not. Ezra is perfectly fine with killing and being around horrible people while Alice just wants to live a quiet civilian life where she doesn’t feel like she has a bigger purpose weighing on her shoulders. Ezra doesn’t understand Alice’s worldview and also grew up with Alice around a parental figure who was constantly singing their praises, except that there was an obvious difference in what he had planned for the children, Ezra was already everything the Rogue Leader wanted, meanwhile Alice still had to grow into her potential, and Ezra decided it was his job to “keep her on track.” Alice is able to “leave” the Rogues to join The Vigilante Alliance, but only because the Rogue Leader knows he has ways to bring her back and doesn’t really care what she does as a vigilante so long as it’s still on track to his goal. All Rogues are required to not mess with her and let her be, with the only exception being Ezra, who doesn’t like that she left the Rogues. Ezra thinks that she doesn’t care about her Potential and thinks she’s ignoring it for a pointless life, he believes that anything that doesn’t aid towards Alice gaining full control over The Potential From The Cosmos is simply a distraction, and that it’s his job to “release her from these distractions,” and this is where I remind you that Rogue Eclipse is a killer. This creates a situation where Ezra won’t leave her alone and makes it near impossible for her to develop any strong attachments, which is exactly what he wants. Alice slowly gains a citizen life she’s content with, she has a job, a pet for companionship, an apartment decorated to her liking, and a job, but she also has her “brother” looming over her life, reminding her of her “potential.” It won’t be long before disaster strikes, where Ezra decides that Alice is spending too much time at her job and kills her boss, resulting in Alice being forced to leave and find a new job (cuz girl’s gotta pay her rent and feed her dog). Fortunately for her, the doughnut shop/cafe nearby is hiring…

It’s been a couple months of the same routine for Alice, wake up early, walk Dolly, eat breakfast on her way to work, and then proceed to have a usually mundane day before joining her Vigilante Alliance Team later that night. She loves it. Except for the one part of the day where the pink haired girl comes to abuse the free Wi-Fi and chat her ears off, Alice highly doubts the caffeine the girl gets every time she comes helps. But.. it’s also kind of cute in a way, Alice can’t help but be a little enamored by it. But naturally she refuses to let those feelings see the light of day, not only is she mostly annoyed by the girl, but her ever-looming “protective older brother” complicates the situation further. Ariel, on the other hand, has fallen head over heels. She’s been a regular to the cafe for a long while now and knows all the employees, she’d usually strike up a conversation with the other girl, Chelsea, but Alice is new, and she *deeply* intrigues Ariel, in more ways than one. Alice is one of the few people who is a complete mystery to Ariel, Connection doesn’t work on her, and Ariel is determined to figure out why. Ariel has been preparing to travel, she’s decided that in order to learn more about the different Factions she’s going to have to meet up with them herself, but it’s not time yet. Just a little more preparing…

Alice and Ariel has met as Vigilantes many times due to being in the same area, but they never interact long, as Picturesque is very skittish. One of the reasons Alice doesn’t let herself get attached to Ariel is because she knows Ariel runs a blog about Vigilantes, and she doesn’t know that Ariel herself is a Vigilante. As far as she’s aware, Ariel’s just a girl who gossips about Vigilantes as if it’s not life or death for them, and this doesn’t sit well with Alice. But Picturesque on the other hand? Alice can’t help but let herself get attached to the sparkly, camera wielding Vigilante. Picturesque jumps from rooftops and structures, finding spots to set up her camera, she’s fully defense based, able to use her camera case as a shield or weapon, and throw flash bombs to make a quick getaway. She’s incredibly nimble, and somehow is able to get out of tough situations, making her someone Alice is able to be more lenient with when it comes to getting attached, especially when Picturesque tends to look intimidated by Stardust and usually tries to avoid her if approached. Stardust, whenever out with her team, usually keeps an eye out for Picturesque, as she’s often set up somewhere close by. Stardust doesn’t know what it is Picturesque is doing with her camera, obviously she’s recording things, but for what purpose? Stardust thinks the small crystals floating near her has something to do with it, but can’t say for sure. If Stardust spots Picturesque and isn’t in the middle of something, she’ll usually float up to her to try and catch her off guard, and if she accomplishes this, she’ll usually get in a witty (sometimes flirty) inquiry before Picturesque jumps into action, she finds it fun and likes seeing how Picturesque reacts, often hoping for a surprised, flustered reaction. Picturesque, on the other hand… is kind of scared of Stardust, a powerful force radiates from her and Picturesque can’t tell if she’s the only one who senses it (because of her ability: Connection) or if the others just don’t care because she’s on their side. However, Picturesque is also deeply intrigued more than anything, she’s always been interested in how different Vigilante’s fight and what their origins are, and like Alice, Stardust has something about her that just feels like there’s a good story to be dug up. Picturesque used to set up her camera from afar and record how Stardust works with her team, but it wouldn’t be long before she would be noticed, and to make matters worse- Stardust was often the one to approach her. Seriously!? Stardust!? Picturesque can’t hold her own against Stardust! Have you seen those Black Hole’s? Even if Picturesque *might* be able to hold her own against Stardust, one tip towards Stardust being on the loosing side and Picturesque is screwed. Those were exactly her thoughts, so whenever Stardust would first approach her or catch her off guard, Picturesque would immediately send out a flash bomb, pack up her camera, and book it. However the more Stardust would approach her, the more she would learn that Stardust had literally no intentions of attacking her, not even to drive her away or tell her off, she simply wanted to approach her because… interest?… I mean.. Stardust *is* very pretty… but no! She couldn’t! She didn’t even know who Stardust was outside of her Vigilante form, and no amount of asking would get Stardust to share that type of information. And so they would just stay as Vigilante’s who would occasionally cross paths at night, while unknowingly interacting as normal people during the day, every day, for months.

Unfortunately, Alice can’t interact with someone *that* much without it catching the attention of Ezra. And so, Picturesque would have her first interaction with Rogue Eclipse. You know she was scared of Stardust, now imagine how terrified she would be when approached by Rogue Eclipse. Fortunately for her, she’s saved by Stardust who are both then found by The Darling Dove’s. They insist that Picturesque join their Team or at the very least join the Vigilante Alliance since it’s clearly dangerous for her to be a Loner after somehow gaining the attention of a Rogue who seemed very determined to kill her. But Picturesque refuses their offer, saying that she was planning to go out of town soon anyways, and that’s when Alice has a thought.. Ariel had been yapping about traveling soon for a while now.. but no, she cant say for certain, it could just be a simple coincidence.

The next day Ariel is approached by someone while walking to the cafe, he’s a blonde haired man with sunglasses, who appears to be blind. He introduces himself as Ezra Emerson, and strikes up a conversation with her, explaining how he’d come across her blog from a friend and was deeply intrigued by her interest in Vigilantes. They would both talk until she’d finally make her way to the cafe, but he would stop her before she could enter, and pull her to the side, giving her clear instructions after revealing who he was. He explains how he’s decided she’s more useful alive than dead, but doesn’t elaborate why, instead telling her that he wants her to walk into the cafe with him as if this conversation never happened, and knowing she doesn’t have much choice, she agrees. Ariel walking into the cafe with Ezra immediately catches Alice’s attention, and not only does it solidify her thoughts, but it also sends a message: She got too close, and Ariel almost died because of it.

End of Summary~

The Darling Doves (Art + Lore)

The Darling Doves are here! πŸͺ½πŸ’˜☀️πŸ’Œ

They’re a Team of four within the Virtue Faction, meaning not only do they align with the virtuous placement on the Moral Spectrum but they’re also True Virtues ✨ (except for one of them πŸ‘€)

The team was created by Manager Cupid, who also took up the leader role, after she came across two Vigilante’s who almost perfectly matched her theme: Sun Swan and Sugar Angel. The two came in a pair as they were already an unnamed team of two, and would form a team together with Manager, from then on being called “The Darling Doves” by Manager’s suggestion based on the three of them having white wings and her affectionate nickname for literally everyone, which is “darling” (She also calls them “my darling Doves”). It would be later on that they would gain their newest recruit, Dove Messenger, after Manager found out that her employee, Chelsea Hallow, was also a Vigilante and immediately wanted to extend an invitation, completely unaware of who she truly was.

Rogue Phobia granted a wish from the Rogue Leader with Secret Keeper that allows her to blend in with the Darling Doves. She’s supposed to be climbing the ranks and infiltrating the Virtues, but has stayed stagnant within the Faction due to being distracted by Ariel/Picturesque who frequents the Cafe and lives in the area. Once Ariel is almost killed by Rogue Eclipse and leaves the area, Phobia no longer has interest in the Darling Doves and begins her true infiltration mission.

Heart Stopper-

One slice of her katana will temporarily stop someone’s heart (Her katana does not draw blood). She only uses this as a last resort against those who she considers “evil”

Unnamed abilities-

(1. Unsheathing and sheathing her katana swiftly lets out a burst of air that can knock the wind out of her opponents

(2. Her wings can shed their paper feathers and turn into origami creations of her desire

Wishing Wings (Secret Keeper)-

(Illusion of Secret Keeper)

She can grant quick, temporary wishes through her winged envelopes

Sweet Dreams (Phobophobia)-

(Illusion of Secret Keeper)

She can trap her targets within a cage of “sweet dreams,” Dove herself falls asleep inside the cage while using this ability, the more calm and content she is, the harder it is for her targets to break out of their “sweet dreams.” She only uses this as a last resort against those she considers “evil”

Rogue Phobia Abilities:

(Attack, Support)

Phobophobia-

Phobia can dig out her target’s greatest fear and form illusions of it, trapping her target in a shadowy cage of fear unless they have the mental fortitude to break out. Phobia herself stays within the cage, experiencing her own fear: the more terrified Phobia is, the more real and dangerous the target’s fear becomes.

Secret Keeper-

Phobia can make wishes become real, but the wish has to be kept secret. There’s also a twist: usually the wishes are granted in harmful forms, because of this Phobia often scares or manipulates others into making wishes, only to use it against them. If the secret gets out the Secret Keeper will be exposed and the wish will disappear, however Secret Keeper itself is a secret, no one (except the Rogue Leader) knows this ability exists and therefore no one knows how to be rid of their wishes unless Phobia dispels them herself (aka revealing herself as the Secret Keeper).
